A swirling turbine becomes a dome-like space to be occupied and contemplated. There is some unexplained previous purpose, a relic of an invented past, an industrial folly mimicking the large window proportions of the newly restored warehouse.

This District wide sculptural lighting installation. consists of stainless steel arcs that resemble a lacework embroidering the University Circle’s Euclid Avenue median. The Arcs are arranged playfully over a stretch of 3/4 mile. The daytime effect is silvery and reflective with the arcs stitch through the landscape. At night, brush strokes of blue light emerge.

This sculptural pavilion is situated as a second iconic gateway into the Superior Industrial neighborhood. It marks a transit location inviting riders to ponder excavation buckets scrapping skyward. At night, the illuminated mouths create what feels like an industrial tempietto, a colorful dome from some invented future ruin.

City of Lights
This sculpture was created to commemorate the opening ceremonies for the Senior Games hosted in Cleveland in the summer of 2013. We convinced them to simulate the flames of the classic games with a wash of programmable light, a more ecological solution and a more dazzling nightscape for the duration of the games. Part petal of a flower, part heavy duty turbine; this array of five flames is positioned on the sloping belly of mall B like some kind of belly piercing. Ultimately this sculpture commemorates Cleveland’s Burning River.
Completed: 2013
Dimension: 18’ H x 12‘ D
Material: 1” thick Painted Steel plate, Programmable LED
